I love books. All kinds of books. But especially books for kids.
Some of my wonderful memories from childhood are summer reading programs at the library, the bookmobile, and dipping into bookstores in the mall to browse and smell the new books. I love new book smell. I was an Army Brat, so when we moved, my siblings and my books always got me through until I made friends.
Back in our broke college days, my husband and I would go on dates to local bookstores. We’d make a stack of magazines and books to thumb through while we sipped coffee. I miss the days of comfy chairs and relaxing in a bookstore.
When our three daughters were old enough to not tear up books, I took them to the library. I allowed them to each pick out 3 books because I thought the limit was 10 for my card. When we got to the counter and found out 50 was the limit, I marched them back to the stacks and we kept that card maxed out.
Now I’m spending my days writing the books I hope kids love and remember fondly.
